Engraving Photos

To publish an image of a product, one needs to take a photo, (which at that time was a glass negative) print the photo, give the photo to an engraver, the engraver makes an engraving which is given to a printer which is used in a printing press to print that factory product.

These engraving photo give a way is that there is a canvas behind the product and the setting is usually outside/inside the factory. The canvas highlighted details for the engraver which could become lost in the noise of the background. The canvas was not required but was commonly used.
