New Holland Hit and Miss Engines

A common advertising practice in the 1910s was to show one's products at the country fair. New Holland relied on newspaper or periodicals to promote their products and not much of fair promotion has been found. Below is what has been discovered.

1909 June 19 - Image used in a Clarion New Holland newspaper advertisement. Photo of Peter Shirk tractor made at Blue Ball Machinery with a New Holland engine.

The location is presumed to be the Lancaster Fairground and the date is tied to the 1/2HP engine on the ground which would be 1910 or later. The wooden hopper mills suggest closer to 1910 than closer to 1920.

1909 June 5 - Clarion Newspaper - New Holland Memorial Day Parade. New Holland Machine Company parade float with Stone Crusher and 5 HP engine.
